THE EFFECTS OF THE SATELLITES

Hi laikeros and laikeras, today we are going to talk about an important theme. Well as you can see, our English teacher told us to write a new entry for him about satellites, that is the reason why we are writing in English.

Do you know that you are surrounded by satellites without knowing it? Well if you didn't, now you know.
Your mobile phones, the TV, your mother's apps, smart watches, Internet, google maps..., they all function with satellites.
As you can see the satellites are essential for our lives.
Ask yourselves this question: Could you live without mobiles? Computers? Computer games? Well, we can't! But satellites aren't only for personal use, they also serve to obtain information for the Earth. For example, if you are going on a trip and you don't know what to wear because you don't know the weather, don't worry! Besause our friends the satellites will help us to know it. They can predict catastrophies such as earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, the sea movements... Do you remember our satellites? We hope so! If you don't, you can find them below.
Paula's satellite "SMOS" is the type of satellite that can collect weather information. With this, we can tell you that satellites showed us how the is Earth from the outside, but satellites also produce negative effects. First, radiation: Probably you studied that at school, so you will know that is really bad and dangerous.
Do you normally sleep with your phone? Do you have the mobile phone always in your pocket? If you do, be careful. If you sleep with it, you won't rest as well as if you don't and it will produce insomnia. If you carry it in your pocket, the leg muscle that is touching it will become weaker than the other leg muscle.
Second, ilnesses and diseases.
Are you a healthy person? Do you like going to the doctor? Well, maybe you don't, but if you vomit, you have headache, stomach ache, diarrhoea, haematoma, bruises, if your hair is falling out... Maybe you should visit the doctor because the cause could be the radiation from the satellites. This is not a joke people! We are going to tell you a real story about a girl who lived in Finland. This woman used to use her mobile phone a lot, and she received a lot of phone calls and she was exposed to a lot of radiation every day. One of those days the mobile phone EXPLODED in her ear and the woman died.
With this story we want to show you should think about how much you use your phone, computer, tablets...
Do you think that the money that we spend on satellites is necessary or should we spend it on other things? We think that spending this money on satellites is necessary. We know that is expensive but if we haven't got satellites, we wouldn't know the weather, use our phones, predict some catastrophies. We also think that there are much less important things than satellites and we should spend more money on them. What do you think?
